Brewing happy beer in the heart of the Charnwood district of Leicestershire.
The Reed family of Andrew, wife Andrea and children George, Millie and Alexander (and Izzy the dog), founded Charnwood Brewery here in Loughborough in 2014. They brew 2 core beers – Salvation (a golden 3.8% beer) and Vixen (a 4% copper-coloured ale) – plus a varied selection of 24 monthly specials, ranging from wheat beers to IPAs to American pale ales. That, of course, in addition to running the brewery shop and bar, winning multiple SIBA Awards and opening a new Micropub down the road in Mountsorrel called The Sorrel Fox!
This drive and enthusiasm surely belies Andrew's "maturity in years", but with many years' experience in the brewing industry behind him, there's no sign of taking his foot off the peddle just yet as he strives to build on his brand that gives the customer exactly what they want!
Localism has become more important to people since the turn of the new millennium. Supporting local business like this not only creates a vibrant local economy but helps the sustainability of the environment. Beer miles - Charnwood Brewery beer rarely travles more than 10 miles form the brewery - and a focus on the local area has really helped Andrew and his family create a brand the people of Charnwood can relate to.

But despite significant success of the Brewery and two increases in capacity, Andrew has no intentions of scaling the business any further. Having reached the point where they cannot produce any more beer at their site, he prefers to remain focused on maintaining the beer quality and keeping its distribution local.
As a small producer, they really are able to maintain the quality of our product as well as striving to maintain excellent customer service - something that the bigger operators often let go.
