The solution (just in case it was a lucky guess!):
Take one piece of gold from pile A, two pieces from Pile B, and three pieces from pile C. The scales read 630g.
If all the gold weighed 100g, the scales would read 600g. But the real gold weighs 10g extra so, having taken 3 pieces from pile C, you have an additional 30g on the scales (3 x 10 extra grams) thus meaning the real gold must be pile C.
